Happy Halloween! I absolutely cannot believe that October is already over. Winter is coming (ha!), and with it comes colder weather, holidays, and GRADUATION. My goodness, how time flies.
October in One Word: Blogggggggging. And Puppy.
My Favorite Memories in October 2014:
- Arthur the little brown puppy, and all of the fun we’ve had seeing him grow and come to love Addy
- So many amazing days outside (the fall weather is here and beautiful!)
- Back to work, back to work!
- Celebrating Cagen Jon’s 4th birthday with the dinosaurs
- Blogging every. single. weekday. Success!
- Seeing Gone Girl come to life in the theater (and being thoroughly creeped out by it)
- Celebrating my dad and grandmother’s birthdays with the family

- A bit of Mona Lisa Smile and feminism
Favorite Posts from the Month:
- If you don’t believe sexism in advertising exists, check out this video. It made me laugh and cringe.
- This was the most compelling argument for children and technology that I’ve seen. A boy with autism learns to communicate using Siri.
- This one is for parents… How to deal when your children are having a tough time at school, and making sure that your home is a haven.
- A blogger encounters catcalling for the first time NYC. This one is worth a read.
- Life lessons from Alice in Wonderland.
New Obsessions:
- Bustle. Feminism meets snark meets celebrities meets funny.
- Organizational tools, like Wunderlist and Buffer
- The Skimm – A daily newsletter with big news stories and interesting factoids… I’m loving starting my day off with this.
3 Things I’m Sad to See Go with October:
- The beautiful fall weather turning into winter
- Free time.. I’m back to working full time and I will definitely miss my off days
- Daylight. I’m not looking forward to the time change!
3 Things I’m Looking Forward to in November:
- Jeromy finishing the CPA exam! (fingers crossed, fingers crossed)
- Finishing with my capstone course
- Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the holidays officially starting
Favorite Quote from a Book I Read this Month:
“To love someone is like moving into a house,” Sonja used to say. “At first you fall in love in everything new, you wonder every morning that this is one’s own, as if they are afraid that someone will suddenly come tumbling through the door and say that there has been a serious mistake and that it simply was not meant to would live so fine. But as the years go by, the facade worn, the wood cracks here and there, and you start to love this house not so much for all the ways it is perfect in that for all the ways it is not. You become familiar with all its nooks and crannies. How to avoid that the key gets stuck in the lock if it is cold outside. Which floorboards have some give when you step on them, and exactly how to open the doors for them not to creak. That’s it, all the little secrets that make it your home. “

I'm not looking forward to the time change, either! I hate when it gets dark so early. I love to read, too, and looks like you've read some really good books this month!
You have been very, very busy! I'm not bidding Fall farewell until nearly Christmas, I just refuse to let it go. Thanksgiving and Black Friday rank high on my looking forward to list as well 🙂
omg. that puppy! He is so cute I just want to squeeze him!
What a great post. I can't get over the cuteness of your Schnauzer. They sure are the best pups in the world!
I enjoyed this blog and love the way you formatted it. I am yet to see Gone Girl but have heard such great reviews.
i love your wrap up! Sounds like you had a busy month! I'm happy to see November because it's my son's birthday month and it's the kick off for the holidays!

Oh, I love the 13th Tale. Such an interesting story!
I absolutely adore your puppy! Bailey, our first born, is a cuddle buddy and I love it when it gets chilly outside and he wants extra snuggles under the blankets! Also, you go girl with all those book you've read! I'm lucky if I get one read in a month!
I've been substituting at schools lately, so there's a lot of downtime! I'm pretty lucky with that. And Arthur hasn't left my side since the cold front snapped this weekend! I'm loving the cuddles!
It really surprised me with how great it was! Definitely one of the better books I've read this year.
I'm definitely looking forward to the holidays. Thanks for stopping by!
The movie left me shaking.. it's amazing how well they turned Amy into a crazy character in a book to an even crazier character on screen! Thank you for stopping by!
They really are! I'm head over heels for this fella.
It's hard for me to ever put him down because he's so adorable!
Haha yes! Food and shopping are definitely worth looking forward to.. I'm excited to buy presents for everyone!
I was very impressed with all of the books I read this month! Not an awful one among them.
